Is Online Learning Right for You?

By Management Tips

While so many adults are choosing to go back to school or learn a new trade that may require a college degree or certificate, an important decision is whether to go in-person or online. The good news is that you have many choices to choose from when looking into both online and in-person schools. Make a list and write down some of your wants and needs for this decision and order them in terms of the highest importance. Here are few reasons why many are choosing online degrees over the traditional brick and mortar schools:
Pandemic – Many of us are realizing the value of a better work/life balance, which typically includes working and studying from home. This also helps us stay safe and healthy during the pandemic.

Less Expensive – Typically, online educations have lower costs involved because colleges do not have to pay for the physical classroom and other overhead associated with this kind of higher learning. Most classes use computers in the classroom now anyway, so why not work from your home the same as you would in the classroom while saving money?

Real Education – Online education is considered real education. Online students learn the same coursework and have the same quality of education as in-person students. The only real difference is which way you choose to attend.

How to Keep Engaged in Online Learning:

By Management Tips

Studying and working from home can become distracting. There is always something else you can be doing, or others buzzing around while you are trying to do work. Here are some solutions to ensure success with online learning:
Minimize Distractions – Make your workspace uniquely yours and define it into areas for school vs. personal. Wearing headphones can really help you can drown out other noises and keep you focused on completing tasks. If needed, go to a shared communal workspace or a coffee shop. Whatever keeps you motivated to get your work complete in a timely manner is your best bet.
Time Management – Online schools are real schools. You have real deadlines. It is always helpful to make your own schedule on top of what your teacher requires. Since there is always something that can go wrong, especially with technology, be prepared by setting your deadlines a full 24 hours before an assignment is due. That way, if something does go wrong, you are finished a day before. Back up your work with online storage and save a hard copy to your computer.
Finding Support – Your teacher is there if you need it, just like in person. If you are struggling, reach out to your teacher or ask if they know of another person who needs a study buddy in your class that can keep you challenged and on task.

How Missing Payments Affect Your Credit

By Management Tips

Missing loan payments can affect your credit in many ways. Here is the process of how late payments work:

Late payments are reported on day 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180, which are negative marks on your credit score. At this point, the account is charged off. A charge-off is another new negative mark on your credit.

Once a collections agency is notified that creates a new mark.

All these negative marks can remain on your credit report and negatively affect your credit for 7 years.
