Studying and working from home can become distracting. There is always something else you can be doing, or others buzzing around while you are trying to do work. Here are some solutions to ensure success with online learning:
Minimize Distractions – Make your workspace uniquely yours and define it into areas for school vs. personal. Wearing headphones can really help you can drown out other noises and keep you focused on completing tasks. If needed, go to a shared communal workspace or a coffee shop. Whatever keeps you motivated to get your work complete in a timely manner is your best bet.
Time Management – Online schools are real schools. You have real deadlines. It is always helpful to make your own schedule on top of what your teacher requires. Since there is always something that can go wrong, especially with technology, be prepared by setting your deadlines a full 24 hours before an assignment is due. That way, if something does go wrong, you are finished a day before. Back up your work with online storage and save a hard copy to your computer.
Finding Support – Your teacher is there if you need it, just like in person. If you are struggling, reach out to your teacher or ask if they know of another person who needs a study buddy in your class that can keep you challenged and on task.
